“Chennai Super Kings Won The Match By 06 Wickets & Qualifies in Playoffs !!”

This was match-44 of the Indian Premier League & it was a “Southern Derby”, where the table toppers — “Chennai Super Kings” were up against the Sunrisers Hyderabad — the team languishing at the rock bottom of the points table. Super Kings were playing this match, with the intent of sealing the spot in “Playoffs”, whereas orange army were trying to create one more upset in the league. The yellow army, won the match & became the first team of IPL-2021 to reach the playoffs. For Hyderabad, it’s the official announcement that, they are “Eliminated” from the race of playoffs in IPL-2021.

Team Changes: →

Chennai Super Kings: (CSK)

Super Kings, living up to the philosophy they believed in all these years & made only one change. Dhoni brought “Dwayne Bravo” back in the team . Otherwise, team went unchanged fro the last game.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: (SRH)

Sunrisers surprised everyone & looked sensible this time & went unchanged from the last game. Well, it won’t make much of the difference to the team, either. At least towards their closure in the league, they found a core team. So, orange army unchanged.

Orange Army Crumbled……Super Kings On Top !!

Super Kings won the toss & elected to field first. Once again, it was expected from Jason Roy, to give an explosive start to Sunrisers. Well, orange army was on attack but surprisingly it was — “Wridhiman Saha” not Jason Roy, who took the tole of an aggressor. But, in the fourth of the innings — Super Kings strike !! Big blow to Sunrisers — Jason Roy(2) OUT !! But, the huge moment of the innings came in the 07th over of the innings, when Sunrisers lost their skipper — Kane Williamson(11) cheaply. Courtesy of “Dwayne Bravo” — Super Kings knew the importance of this wicket. Yellow army were in a commanding position, at this point of time.

Then, the Chennai bowlers were all over the Sunrisers & the game completely shifted towards the men in yellow. Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers for Chennai Super Kings.Sunrisers kept loosing wickets at regular intervals. Super Kings never allowed Sunrisers, to get any sort of momentum & were limited to 134 runs.

A big thanks to Abdul Samad(18) & Rashid Khan(17), who played their part & made small but key contributions to the score. Two Jason’s failure in this game made a significant difference of 25–30 runs to the final score. Yes, i’m talking about — Jason Roy & Jason Holder. SRH — 134/7 (20.0 Overs)

Super Kings Qualifies With…..Dhoni’s Six !!

Super Kings commenced their innings, truly like “Kings”. Ruturaj Gaikwad & Faf Du Plessis once again dominated the bowlers & had no problems whatsoever in playing big shots. Both the openers were scoring runs in boundaries. The match was slipping from Sunrisers, but still bowlers had no clue about how to stop these two explosive batsmen. At the halfway stage, Super Kings were 75/0. In the very next over — Jason Holder picked the first wicket of innings.Ruturaj Gaikwad(45) was OUT, after playing one more impactful knock for Super Kings.

It was very clear from the intent of all the batsmen, that Super Kings wants to finish this game in a hurry. After, the wicket of Gaikwad, Moeen Ali from the word go on the attack. This strategy of Stephen Fleming,Dhoni & think tank of CSK was hard to understand. This approach resulted in a mini-collapse for Chennai.Moeen Ali(17) after hitting few big shots, got out in a very unfortunate manner, while attempting another expensive shot off Rashid Khan in the 15th over of the innings.

The drama was far from over & Super Kings lost two more wickets in the very next over. Suresh Raina(2) & Faf Du Plessis(41) gifted their wickets to Jason Holder in his very next over. Super Kings lost wickets in quick succession & CSK pushed the panic button. One more wicket here & anything was possible. But thankfully, Dhoni(14*) & Ambati Rayudu(17*) played some sensible cricket & Dhoni finished the game with a sixer. Super Kings won this match by 06 wickets, but not that convincingly.

Another Landmark For Dhoni……100 Catches As CSK Wicket-Keeper

What a time for Dhoni to reach one more landmark for CSK. Captain cool, reached a landmark of grabbing 100 catches as a wicket-keeper for Super Kings. Well, is there anything left for Mahi to achieve ? Truly inspirational !!

Final-Verdict:

What it means is — Chennai Super Kings became the first team of IPL-2021 to qualify for the “Playoffs”. Furthermore, it also means that Sunrisers Hyderabad officially now became the first team to be “Eliminated” from the race of “Playoffs” in IPL-2021.

This is for the first time in last six years, that orange army has not qualified for the playoffs. Unfortunate but true. Looking at the points table, Super Kings not only have qualified for the playoffs but they are placed at the top of the table & will stay on the top of the table only. What a come-back story of “Chennai Super Kings”. Take a Bow !!
